Okay, it's on... I've started the Steppin' Through the Winter program at the gym and I've done pretty well. The goal is to wear their pedometer and get at least 10,000 steps per day. My latest motivation was putting my pants on this morning and thinking my fat pants needed to be let out. 'Lo and behold, I had apparently already let them out-- YIKES!
I've been doing this for about a week now and am fairly on track. What I need to do is stop consuming so much food. There are days I come home and full feed ensues. Since the hub is gone this week I can let the fridge get empty and not worry about replacing non-essentials like orange juice, ice cream, and sweets. The kids will pretty much eat or ignore what is given to them. Lately their diet staple seems to be sandwiches. I was concerned until reminded of the story that my dad ate only corn flakes cereal everyday for about six years with his own special bowl and giant spoon. The way I hear it told this was not as a youngster :) He then moved on to fried potatoes... that's one of my loves as well.
So, I'm thinking if I post how many steps per day I get in that might be a motivation. Please feel free to encourage or criticize as fit. Today I have 22, 170 steps on the pedometer. This is a combonation of three days. The first day my pedometer reset as it often does. I found that having it on my waist was not as good as attaching it in that special place on my bra. My co-workers were amused today when I would check to see how I was doing as we trotted up and down the stairs at school. Good times, good times. I made my goal for today and think that I will reset it in the morning. I started two Friay's ago and will need to check in at the gym. Once I get to 100,000 steps I get a free towel. I need to go and pick it up tomorrow. I think I'm on my way to a ball cap. Talk about motivation :)
